Chapter VIII

Chapter VIII             David sat in his study, planning his next strategic move against the Iron Kingdom . His dark eyes skimmed a map of the realms, fixing on the Vindico/Diruo border. Surely he could take the Iron Kingdom at any moment, but he decided he should wait. Wait until King Kaiser had hope back in his clutches before yanking it away from him once again. With a sigh, he ran his hands down the map though the faint sound of footsteps causing him to glance over his shoulder. He spun around, his brow knitting in confusion.             “Who goes there?” He called out, placing his hand over the hilt of his sword.             “Come on, are you really going to use that?” Her voice lingers beside his ear and he swears he feels her hot breath on his neck from behind. She grins, her own hand wrapping around the...

Chapter VII

Chapter VII             Sir Leonidas The Reckless did not cry. He hadn’t when his pet died when he was just a boy. He hadn’t when he’d broken his arm falling out of a tree. He had shown a moment of weakness in the dungeons of Diruo, though the tears hadn’t left his eyes then. However, this time… he could not seem to stop the tears from streaming down his cheeks. He half expected her to sit upright, pulling the ultimate prank on him. The blood would rush to her cheeks when she realized he was staring at her and she would laugh… that musical laugh… that would never grace his ears again. “Idiot.” She’d say, wearing that grin. His boots scraped against the broken path, clutching the limp body close against him. The Iron castle comes into the sightline and it is at that moment that he breaks down, burying his face into dark ringlets. He doesn’t dare to stop walking, even if his pace faltered slightly. “I failed you.” He whispers...

Chapter VI

Chapter VI             She had not stopped running since he had told her to. Only stopping to rest and only when it was absolutely necessary. She wasn’t even sure how deep into the forest she was anymore, that is, until she stumbled across an all-too familiar path. It was same path that had taken her and William to the steps of the Iron castle months ago. Months felt like years, now. It all felt… different, as she made her approach. Her fingers curled so tightly around Leon ’s sword that her knuckles were white. Something was… certainly off. This time of course, there was no Leon to come and greet her. There was no escort at her side to warn her of pending danger. With a shiver, she presses forward, keeping her eyes peeled for any signs of movement. Clothed in a sky blue tunic and dark trousers, she ran a hand through her dark locks.             Lana sighs heavily, bring...

Chapter V

Chapter V “Hey, hey; take it easy.” Leon coos, cupping Lana’s cheek as she begins to come to her senses. After her fall from the horse, he imagined she wouldn't be waking up till morning, though he was mistaken. “I don’t know what the hell you did back there, milady, but you saved our asses.” “L-Leo?” Lana murmured, furrowing her brows. She blinked several times to regain her vision. Her eyes widened when they settled on him, shooting upright and grabbing his face in her hands. “Oh my god, you’re in terrible... you look awful.” “You really do have a way with words.” He chuckled. “I think, I could--” “No. You’re in no state to be using whatever magical shit you have. Now come on, get on my back.” “No way! You’re in worse shape than I am. Where’s the horse?” She glances around.             “I don’t know. When you passed out it freaked, kicked me right off and ran. Were you controlling it?” “No.” She sighs, getting t...
